Artwork & ordering guide

Send what you know. We can organise the rest.

A finished design is not required to start. A sketch, existing sign, photograph, logo, spreadsheet or written description can establish the scope before artwork and production details are agreed.

Three useful starting points

Idea, repeat order or full schedule.

Tell us whether the project is an early idea, a replacement for an existing item, or a specified batch. That context helps us ask the right questions without expecting every detail on day one.

Project checklist

Information that makes quoting clearer.

01 / PRODUCT

What needs making?

Describe the finished item and what it must do.

  • Product, sign or component type
  • Indoor, sheltered or exposed use
  • Intended lifespan and cleaning needs
  • One-off, prototype or repeatable range
  • Required completion or installation date
02 / DIMENSIONS

Size, thickness & fit

Overall dimensions are useful even when the final material is undecided.

  • Width × height × thickness in millimetres
  • Available flat print or engraving area
  • Product height and any raised features
  • Hole centres, slots, bends or edge clearance
  • Fixing method and installation surface
03 / QUANTITY

Numbers & variations

Separate the total quantity from information that changes between pieces.

  • Total number of items
  • Identical or individually variable
  • Names, room, pitch or asset numbers
  • Repeated locations or phased deliveries
  • Expected follow-on or replacement orders
04 / APPEARANCE

Material, colour & finish

Share required specifications or describe the visual result you want.

  • Known substrate or preferred appearance
  • Brand colours and logo usage
  • Engraved, printed or combined finish
  • Clear, opaque, timber or laminate options
  • Any required standard or sign specification

Artwork files

Send the best source file available.

Original vector artwork is normally the cleanest starting point for logos, cut paths and sharp lettering. Photographs and image-led artwork need sufficient resolution at the intended finished size.

Preferred vector formats

AI, EPS, SVG or a correctly exported vector PDF. Include outlined text or the required font information where possible.

Image formats

High-resolution PNG, JPG or PDF files can suit photographs and full-colour artwork. Send the original rather than a screenshot where possible.

No finished artwork?

Send a sketch, photograph and exact wording. We can first establish whether the project is suitable and what artwork preparation is required.

Brand control

Include colour references, logo spacing rules and any brand guide that must be followed. Do not rely only on colours sampled from a screen.

Schedules & variable data

Use a spreadsheet for changing information.

One row per itemUse a stable reference or SKU, quantity, exact wording, size, material, fixing and location for each line.
Keep wording exactNames, numbers, capitals, punctuation and units should be supplied as they must appear on the finished product.
Link the supporting fileMake drawing, photograph and artwork filenames match the relevant schedule reference wherever possible.

For QR-linked products

Supply the final destination.

Provide the complete web address each code should open. Test that the destination works, is suitable for customers and will remain available after the product is installed. State whether every item uses the same address or each item needs a different destination.

  • Menu, guest guide, review or booking page
  • Asset, maintenance or product-information record
  • One shared URL or a spreadsheet of individual URLs
  • Final scan test included in the approved layout

Useful photographs

Show the product and where it will be used.

A clear photograph often answers questions that dimensions alone cannot. Avoid confidential information that is not needed for the enquiry.

  • Whole product from the front and back
  • Close-up of the printable or engravable area
  • Ruler or tape visible for scale where helpful
  • Fixings, curves, handles and raised obstructions
  • Installation wall, door, counter or equipment location
  • Existing signs or products that must be matched

What happens next

Scope, sample, approve.

Suitability, price and timing depend on the final material, artwork and quantity. Nothing is presented as production-approved until the key details have been checked.

  1. 01Review the brief, files, quantities and intended use
  2. 02Confirm material, process, dimensions and any sample requirement
  3. 03Approve wording, layout and production details before manufacture
